Support our company charity…66 mile challenge

“Keep the sea on your left, keep going and you’ll be back in around 30 hours”

What will you be doing this May Bank holiday weekend?

Chances are you won’t be walking 66 miles non-stop. But for three intrepid walkers or should we say ‘Invaders’ from Croft; a little village near Warrington, that’s exactly what they have planned.

For Andrew Hiley, Roger Lamming and Andy Beevers – collectively known as ‘The Croft Island Invaders’ this Bank Holiday weekend will be spent walking around the entire coast of … The Isle of Wight … and they’re doing it in one go!

It may be spring but these guys are no spring chickens. Aged in their 40’s. 50’s and 60’s this is not a walk in the park for them, it’s a grueling physical challenge – albeit among beautiful surroundings – which should (if all goes to plan) take between 24 and 30 hours to complete, and the reason?  Andrew told us, “We’re aiming to raise £4,000 to complete our fundraising drive to purchase an incubator for the Neonatal unit that serves the North West area.”

At a cost of c£16,000, this will be the second incubator that the Alice Hiley Memorial Trust have donated in memory of Andrew’s daughter and Roger’s granddaughter, Alice. The Trust was established in Alice’s memory to raise funds to help neonatal babies and to raise awareness of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH).

Roger added, “We asked a couple of friends about navigating the walk, they said, “Keep the sea on your left, keep going and you’ll be back where you started in around 30 hours” … Roger laughed, “Now that’s sorted, all we have to worry about is completing the 66 miles!”

We wish them the very best of luck and while the ‘lads’ are out training, you can help support this very worthy cause by visiting the Alice Hiley Memorial donations page: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/croftislandinvaders

And of course you can keep up with Andrew, Roger and Andy on their Facebook page:

Corporate Sponsorship opportunities are still available with some businesses already signed up.
